Stationary Engineer – US Navy Program (Diego Garcia)

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Stationary Engineer to support a critical US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of essential stationary equipment such as boilers, chillers, generators, and HVAC systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain stationary engines, steam boilers, air compressors, generators, and HVAC utilities.
• Monitor equipment performance, conduct daily readings, adjust settings, and troubleshoot issues.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, part replacement, and repairs on boilers, pumps, refrigeration units, and compressors.
• Start, stop, and regulate power generation and distribution systems, including chilled water, fuel, and steam systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot air handling units, cooling towers, and associated controls.
• Follow preventative maintenance schedules and keep detailed equipment logs and work orders.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, local laws, and US government/military regulations.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, making necessary adjustments and repairs.
• Assist in planning upgrades or replacements of aging equipment.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience operating, maintaining, and repairing stationary engines and mechanical equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in stationary engineering are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems for power generation and utility distribution.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems effectively.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and government regulations for stationary systems.
• Proficiency with equipment logs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
