Marine Engineer (US Navy Program)

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Marine Engineer to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves designing, analysing, constructing, maintaining and repairing marine vessels and systems while ensuring compliance with standards and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research, testing and evaluations for vessel design and modification.
• Develop engineering designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Prepare technical reports, design analyses and system diagnostic documentation.
• Present engineering concepts and design recommendations to stakeholders.
• Utilise engineering design software to develop and review vessel and equipment designs.
• Oversee engineering activities throughout construction, modification and repair projects.
• Supervise structural, mechanical and electrical engineering efforts for compliance.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets and engineering milestones.
• Perform quality‑control inspections and acceptance testing.
• Support preventative and corrective maintenance, root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Maintain engineering documentation per regulatory and contractual requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of four years of experience in marine engineering or a related discipline.

Required skills

• Proficiency with engineering design software such as AutoCAD.
• Experience using Rhino 3D.
• Experience using SOLIDWORKS or similar applications.
