Assistant Fire Chief of Training

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Assistant Fire Chief of Training to lead the fire and emergency services training program for a US Navy installation on Diego Garcia. The role ensures that all fire personnel meet required certifications and maintain operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) training program, aligning it with NFPA, DoD, and Navy standards.
• Design and deliver classroom instruction, hands‑on exercises, drills, and simulations for a multinational fire crew.
• Assess trainee performance, provide feedback, and adjust curricula for continuous improvement.
• Maintain certification schedules and ensure all staff meet ongoing training requirements.
• Oversee procurement, upkeep, and safety of training equipment and materials.
• Develop training policies, procedures, and documentation for audits and inspections.
• Act as the primary liaison with external training organizations and certifying bodies.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience leading a fire training section or division of comparable size.
• Certification as Assistant Chief of Operations and Fire Instructor III.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NFPA, DoD, and Navy fire service standards.
• Experience with fire training curriculum development.
• Proficiency in managing training equipment and resources.
