Appliance Mechanic

About the role

Amentum is looking for an Appliance Mechanic to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial food‑service equipment and related systems to ensure operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance operations for commercial and industrial food‑service equipment in line with contract, company, and military regulations.
• Lead and manage maintenance personnel, including scheduling, performance management, coaching, training, and disciplinary actions.
• Plan maintenance priorities, schedule repairs, and estimate equipment downtime to maintain workflow efficiency.
• Perform advanced installation, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on appliances, refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and lifespan.
• Manage inventory of parts, tools, and supplies while forecasting future needs.
• Oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Provide technical support and customer service to internal and external stakeholders, track performance metrics, and prepare required reports.
• Promote workplace safety and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience maintaining commercial and industrial food‑service equipment.
• Supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance environment.
• Knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to develop and manage preventive maintenance programs.
• Familiarity with contract and military regulatory requirements.
• Strong inventory management and documentation skills.
