Supervisor – Base Communications Office (BCO)

About the role

The Supervisor BCO will lead the installation, operation and maintenance of the Base Telecommunications Distribution System for a critical US Navy program on Diego Garcia. This position ensures reliable communications infrastructure supporting mission‑critical operations in a remote, high‑security environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee installation and operation of the Base Telecommunications Distribution System and all associated components.
• Maintain switch operations, switchboard functions, inside‑plant telephone switches, station equipment, customer‑premise cabling and outside‑plant fiber‑optic/copper cables.
• Supervise, train and schedule personnel responsible for communications system upkeep.
• Conduct inspections, preventive maintenance and documentation of all telecom assets.
• Manage lifecycle activities including repairs, replacements, upgrades and testing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues quickly and ensure continuous communications.
• Produce technical reports, performance records and incident documentation.

Required profile

• BICSI Registered Technician Level certification or higher.
• Industry‑approved certifications from equipment manufacturers.
• Extensive experience with Base Telecommunications Distribution Systems, including switch and switchboard operations.
• Proven ability to lead teams in a remote, high‑security environment.
