Power Plant Mechanic

About the role

We are looking for a Power Plant Mechanic to join Amentum’s US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems in a power generation environment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on generators, engines, turbines, compressors and related mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults, conducting corrective and preventive maintenance.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical schematics and manuals to guide installations and repairs.
• Document all maintenance actions, inspections and upgrades in accordance with operational procedures.
• Operate and maintain tools and testing equipment required for mechanical work.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and occupational health standards, using PPE at all times.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to prioritize tasks and support plant operations.

Required profile

• Completed a three‑year apprenticeship in mechanical trades or power plant mechanics.
• At least three years of documented experience in power plant or industrial mechanical maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, speak and understand English for technical communication and emergency procedures.
• Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally.
