Fire Crew Chief – Lead Firefighting Operations

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Fire Crew Chief to lead fire‑fighting personnel for a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role provides operational oversight for fire suppression, rescue, prevention, and emergency response activities that protect life, property, and mission‑critical assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise fire‑fighting crews during structural, aircraft, hazardous‑materials, rescue, and emergency incidents.
• Direct fire‑ground operations including attack, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation, and rescue.
• Evaluate incident conditions, identify risks, and select appropriate response strategies.
• Ensure all fire‑fighting equipment, vehicles, and response systems are inspected, maintained, and ready for immediate deployment.
• Assess emergency scenes, document conditions, and provide accurate information for incident reporting.
• Monitor crew performance, enforce fire‑fighting procedures, and uphold safety standards.
• Provide first‑responder medical care and support emergency medical activities as needed.
• Train, mentor, and develop assigned firefighters to maintain operational readiness.
• Maintain records, inspections, and documentation related to fire prevention, safety initiatives, and emergency preparedness.

Required profile

• Minimum six (6) years of professional fire service experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience leading fire‑fighting personnel in complex operational environments.
