Power Plant Mechanic

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Power Plant Mechanic to support a unique U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems in the power plant to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct maintenance, inspections, and repairs on power generation equipment and associated mechanical systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in engines, turbines, compressors, and other power plant systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and fluid systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical schematics, and manuals for accurate repairs and installations.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and operational upgrades.
• Operate and maintain tools and testing equipment required for mechanical system upkeep.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, operational standards, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to prioritize and accomplish tasks.

Required profile

• Successfully completed a three‑year apprenticeship program in mechanical trades or power plant mechanics.
• Minimum of three years documented practical experience in power plant or related industrial environments.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English for contract requirements and emergency procedures.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity and ability to obtain required visas.
• Pass contract medical requirements and maintain facility credentials.
