HVAC Master Technician

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced HVAC Master Technician to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves maintaining, inspecting, and repairing large‑scale HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair chilled water and Direct Expansion (DX) centralized air‑conditioning plant equipment.
• Support Variable Air Volume (VAV) and Constant Volume air‑distribution systems of 100 tons or greater.
• Conduct inspections, fault diagnosis, testing, and preventive maintenance for HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and implement repairs in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Assist in planning and scheduling HVAC maintenance activities.
• Document inspections, test results, maintenance actions, and repairs per regulatory requirements.
• Supervise and provide technical guidance to less‑experienced trade personnel.
• Ensure safe refrigerant handling and adherence to environmental safety regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of advanced HVAC/refrigeration maintenance, repair, installation, or troubleshooting experience.
• Technical or vocational qualification in HVAC/R (e.g., City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Current HVAC/refrigeration certifications, including refrigerant handling where required.
• Ability to work independently and provide supervision to junior staff.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
